Ajaccio is Corsica's most important western port. Situated near the city centre, the port is circumscribed by palm trees and teeming with yachts. It facilitates traffic between the white city of Ajaccio and several mainland harbours in southern France.

The port is serviced by a café and a convenience store, along with restroom facilities. Both short-term and long-term parking options are available, with dedicated spaces set aside for vehicles belonging to disabled passengers.


Outside of the port area, a multitude of shops and restaurants are found in Ajaccio city and can be reached via a short walk. Ample shopping is available in the city, and dining options run the gamut, from bistros to expensive seafood.

The city of Ajaccio is renowned as the birthplace of Napoleon, and subsequently, it hosts a variety of historic attractions. A local museum has two of Raphael's paintings on display as well as paintings by Spanish and French artists.

Ferry Services


The Corsica Ferries company runs regular service to the cities of Nice and Toulon. Crossing to Nice takes 4 hours, 30 minutes, while crossing to Toulon takes 5 hours, 45 minutes.

SNCM Ferry serves the greatest number of ports, with ferries departing to Marseille (12 hours, 30 minutes), Nice (4 hours), Toulon (5 hours, 45 minutes) and Porto Torres (3 hours, 30 minutes). CMN ferry company only serves the French port of Marseille, with the total travel time of their services being about 13 hours.
